A striking and genuinely early pair of solid oak hand carved cabinet doors, dating to the 17th or early 18th century, showcasing exceptional period craftsmanship.
These are entirely hand worked pieces, produced long before mechanised carving – every element cut and shaped by hand. The carving has real depth and movement, with the natural variation and tool marks that only true early craftsmanship can provide.
The design reflects strong Gothic and Renaissance influences, with bold architectural panels, scrolling foliate detail, and beautifully balanced symmetry. The wear and patina built over centuries give these doors a richness and authenticity that simply cannot be replicated.
Retaining original brass escutcheons and handle, adding further character and historical integrity.
Key Features:
17th / early 18th century
Solid oak construction
hand carved – pre-industrial craftsmanship
Deep relief carving with outstanding detail
Original period hardware
Rich, surface and patina
Condition:
Good structural condition for age with expected wear, historic marks, and minor age-related imperfections consistent with pieces of this period. These only enhance their authenticity and appeal.
An exceptional and increasingly scarce pair of early carved panels – ideal for collectors, period interiors, or architectural reuse.
